Even though they're such similar names, I've always liked Antony, but never much cared for Anthony. I also really dislike the nickname Tony. Always reminds me of Tony the Tiger or the Tony awards. What do you think? Which do you like better?

I like Anthony better. What about Anton as a nickname for Anthony. My friend who is Anthony goes by Anton.

i too dislike the nickname tony but i think i prefer anthony to antony. not quite sure why though, i think antony would fit in with styles i like more, but for some reason it just doesn't sound right when i say it.

I prefer Anthony over Antony.
I also don't like the nn Tony, but oh well I'm not such a fan of nn at all.

  • Interests:I LOVE reading. I'm into almost every genre and generally read a book a week, if possible. I like Iris Johansen, Karen Marie Moning, Stephen King, James Patterson, Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë, Diana Gabaldon, Kathy Reichs, and Robert Burns (every Scot's favorite author). I really love music and even got accepted to the Mason Gross School of Performing Arts at Rutgers University (my alma mater) for vocal performance. Unfortunately performance life was not for me, so I went into English Lit and French instead. Music is still a big part of my life, and I like a multitude of musical genres from Reggae to Rock to Opera. I've seen Carmen and La bohème each twice. (And I cry every time.) My husband and I also have a special place in our hearts for The Beatles.

I prefer Anthony to Antony. Anothony could always just go by his first name and not any nickname. A son of a friend is named Nicolas, not Nick or Cole, and that's what he goes by. I would probably go that route since I can't really think of any other nicknames for Anthony, other than Tony.

I'm not too big on nns either, but people would always want to call him Tony, just like people always want to call a Nicholas Nick or a Jacob Jake. It doesn't really matter, 'cause I would never use Antony/Anthony anyway. Just a musing. Lol.

I love the name Anthony. It's classic, solid and strong!!! Good Luck, with either you can not go wrong!
