hello!  We are adopting a baby that we have had since birth, she is almost 11 months old.  We are foster parents.   At first her mom left the hospital AMA and didnt name her for 2 weeks.   Which resulted in us giving her a knick name that everyone calls her now.   When mom finally named her, it was off of a vehicle commercial.  Its a cute name not usually associated with a vehicle.   We can change her name or keep it.  Am thinking of a new first name, and moving her current first name to middle name.  Is this ok?

I think this is something best discussed between you and the birth mother. It's a personal thing and I know people who have done this and some that have changed the name completely to one they liked better.
It's all a matter of personal preference.

At the end of the day, once adopted, she is legally your child. But I do think at 11 months old if she has been called / referred to by a certain name, it could be confusing if it was changed all of a sudden.
