What are your opinions on the name Marianne? (pronounced as Mary Ann)

Do you prefer Marianne or Marion?

I love Marianne, I think it's really classic and lovely. I don't like Marion so much, it sounds a little outdated. I would actually love Marianna most, it sounds a little softer and it's really pretty, but Marianne is also very nice.

I think Marianne is cute. The spelling Marion makes me want to pronounce it as mare-ee-uhn though, so I prefer Marianne.

I agree with Jenna... to me, Marianne and Marion have different pronunciations.  Marion is pronounced mare-ee-uhn to me.  If you prefer the pronunciation Mary Ann, then I would go with Marianne for the sake of clarity.

I pronounce Marianne and Marion differently, and personally I prefer Marion, but they are both nice.

I love it! It is a very pretty name. I think it is a little bit of an older style, but is making a comeback.
