I'm starting a historical fiction phase of writing and I have two specific new ideas to run by all of you! The first would be a story about the Roanoke Colony and where they disappeared to. That would be the beginning and most of the story would be the reemergence of the people of the colony and/or their relatives to the modern world. I was thinking of having the main character be a teenage girl named Caroline James. The second story would be set in the time of the Salem witch trials and I really need help wth names for this one.
Character descriptions:

Girl 1-Accused of being a witch and put on trial for witchcraft, she is a devout Christian about 17 years old. She is tall and has ash brown hair, big brown eyes, and pale skin with a splash of freckles across her nose.

Girl 2-Girl 1's older sister. Similar in height, age 21. Has dishwater blonde hair and blue eyes. She is not accused of witchcraft and eventually turns on her sister.

Boy 1-Best friend of girl 1. Age 17. He is the love interest of girl 1 and she is his love interest. Tall, built from physical labor, has sandy brown shaggy hair that falls just above his eyes. His eyes are chocolate brown and his skin is tan from long hours in the sun. He is the only person who believes in girl 1's innocence and sets out to free her.

Any ideas? Keep in mind that they need to fit the time period! I would also love to hear what you think of these stories! Could they be popular among teens and young adults? Maybe even pre-teens?

How about Victoria for girl one, Abigail for girl two, and Gerard for the the boy? My other suggestion would be Daphne for girl one, Samantha for girl two, and Quentin for the boy. BTW, I think the story idea is great, I am a young adult and i KNOW i would read it. Anything historical fiction is me!

May I suggest you take a look at the following webpage:

Faire Names for English Folk: Late Sixteenth Century English Names

It's really informative! I never knew that Middle Names didn't really exist back then!

Anyway, the names I would suggest are:

Girl 1: Isabel

Girl 2: Margery

Boy 1: Ambrose or Barnaby

Have fun with your writing and please let me know what you choose! :)
