I am not expecting now and I am not planning on having another one for a couple of years but the name Malachi has been stuck on me for the last couple of days. I am really liking it what do you guys think?

Also my husband really wanted to use Kevin for one of our boys that we had in January. I wasn't really into it then but it has kind of grown on me since. What do you guys think of Kevin?

Malachi - I love the sound of it when I say it out loud. Unfortunately, whenever I see the prefix mal- I can't help but think of its meaning - "bad." I don't think it would be a terrible name or anything, I just know what I associate it with.

Kevin - I really can't be unbiased on this one, sorry. I have a cousin with the name, and there's bad blood (is that the right phrase?) between our families. I would never use it, but I can't say that I think it would be a bad name. I just find Malachi more interesting, so of the two, I would go with that one. However, if your husband doesn't like it (you didn't say either way, but I would guess he like traditional/semi-modern names), then try Kevin Malachi. That has a very nice ring to it.

A guy at my work has a son named Malachi. He has two set of twins. I'm not a fan of the name. It reminds me of Children of the Corn.

my problem with the name malachi, in your case, is that it stands out as a great contrast to the very common names you already have for your children. its a great name and if you really love it use it but its very very different from the 3 others so he might feel awkward having such an uncommon name or your other children might feel like he is special because his is so different....

Malachi is nice, but as Erowyn said, it doesn't fit with your other kids' names.

My brother's name is Kevin--its very popular for boys in his grade (he's 13) I think popularity has definitely gone done with this name recently, which is a plus. Its a great classic name that would work beautifully with your other kids' names
