Okay, so I'm writing a new story but need a name for a character.

She's quiet, fragile and new to the school my main character goes to. She doesn't socialize, an average student, and doesn't have a very good back ground. She lives with her boyfriend, because her dad kicked her out. He was an alcoholic, and was extremely abusive. So when she moves into her boyfriends house, and he abuses her, she doesn't say anything cause his abuse is ten times better than her dads and she doesn't want to have to go back dad.

There's nothing spectacular in her appearance, average looks and everything. She wears the same general thing every day: a pare of blue jeans and a long sleeved thermal shirt with sneakers. Her hair is always down and she cakes makeup on her face. Yet there's an aura to her, that attracts people to like her. She's pretty enough that the hot/abusive boyfriend likes her. But not like a supermodel. Just a cute and pleasant look to her.

The main character get's to know her generally, as much as she'll allow. He can tell she get's pushed around, but she swears it doesn't hurt and promises he'll never do it again. Cause he swears he loves her, and she believes it. She takes the fact that he buys her things and sleeps with her to be that he loves her.

Here's the characters I have:

Colin Beckett - Main character.

Blake Hunter - his girlfriend.

Annalie/Avalon - abused girl

Logan Elis - abused girls boyriend.

If she's called Avalon (ah-vah-lawn), her nick name will be Avie (rhyming with Abby). If it's Annalie, she wont have a nick name.

Thanks for all help! Much appreciated! <3

Both are really nice, but I prefer Annalie.

I think that Annalie is more in fitting with the description of your character because she doesn't seem like the kind of girl that would have a nickname. I get the impression that she is mysterious and people don't get to know her easily, in order to have a nick name, people have to get close to you.

I have to say that I really like Avalon. I think that it is a 'character name' What I mean is, your unique characters usually get unique names, and I think Avalon fits her. You don't have to be really close to people to have a nn, it might be that she prefers Avie, and that is how she introduces herself to others. But I think that if it is spelled Avie, people would think it would be pn A-V. If it sounds like Abby, maybe it should be spelled Avvy. Just thinking.

Thanks so much! Though I do like Annalie and think it fits her well, and I'm not sure how much of a nick name person she would be... I have to love MBP's view! A unique name for a unique character :) I guess she could go around introducing herself as Avie. Does Avvy look silly though? Avvey, Avey? Hm....

I think Avvy would be the best spelling for your pron.

Though I think Annalie fits the character better.

Also I think a variation in styles/sounds/lenghts of character names is best. All the other characters have short 1 or 2 syllable names so hers will stand out with a more solid 3 syllable name without a nn.

Avalon is a really beautiful, special name, but I think it fits a character with a really dominant personality. I don't mean overpowering, just someone who sticks out. annalie is pretty, cute, and stays in the background without being a wallflower. It fits the character much better.
Ashmicpear's idea made a lot of sense, I hadn't thought of it like that but it's true! Annalie is perfect.

Although my first instinct was to say Avalon, just because I liked how unique and interesting it was, I think that Annalie fits your character better. Avalon has a sort of strength about it; whereas, Annalie sounds more fragile and delicate. Both names are really pretty though.
