My husband and I have come up with a name for our daughter, due near the end of April. We decided to name our daughter Aidia (pronounced ah-day-ah). We love the name because it sounds like a name that would be in The Hunger Games world, and The Hunger Games is important to us because our first date was to see the first movie in theatres.

The problems we are having with the name Aidia is that my husbands mother hates the name, and we cannot think of a middle name that would go well with it.

We wanted to know if anyone else likes the name, and if you all could help us with a middle name.

Thanks!

Kate

I knew a little girl named Aday (unsure on spelling) but I always thought it was cute.  I think Aidia is lovely although the pronunciation isn't exactly clear from the spelling of the name.

I understand what you are going through with your mother-in-law.  When we were discussing names for our son, my mother really hated one of the names we had picked out (Teddy). In the end we chose something different but because WE decided we liked another name better. We still plan on using Teddy if we have a second boy.

Do you want to continue with the 'Hunger Games' feel for the middle name?

Aidia Prairie (one of my favorite guilty pleasures)

Aidia Bryony

Aidia Cordelia

Aidia Emilia / Amelia

Aidia Phoebe

Aidia Ruby

Aidia Quinn

Aidia Claire

I have to agree with 'Genie-ous Baby Namer'.   The sound of the name is very beautiful but the spelling is a bit confusing.  It's pretty annoying to grow up/go through life with a name that others struggle to pronounce (this coming from someone who has this issue!).  As for middle names... Maeve, Jane, June, Paige?  I think I love it with a one syllable middle name!!

I think it's pretty but awfully confusing. Here are some ideas for similar-sounding names:

Ada

Leia/Léa

Aurelia (uh RAY lee ah)

Kalea (ka-LAY-ah)

Medea (me DEE ah)

Alaia (a LYE ah)

Amalia

Adelaide

Kajsa (KYE sah)

Léonie (LAY uh nee)

Aida (Ah EE da)

I second the Aida suggesestion. (Prn Ah-EEE-duh)

Aidia is nice, though the pronunciation is very confusing.

If you love it, go for it

Thanks everyone. My husband and I decided to go with the name, but spell it a little differently so it'll be less confusing.
