So my favorite girl name at the moment is Edie Laurence. I found Laurence on a list a while back for girls and though I had always considered it a boys name, I found it was unisex because it is the feminine form of Laurent in french. And when I thought about it, it had a very feminine sound to it that I liked. When I paired it with my favorite first name Edie it became the perfect name...Edie Laurence. I feel the styles are very complementary.

But here is the problem. When I showed my faves list to a friend of mine she assumed it was a boy, thinking it was pron. ED ee (like Eddie) rather than EE dee since it was paired with Laurence.

So my question is...Would you have been confused upon first seeing the name and thought it was a boy named "Eddie" Laurence? Or would you have recognized "Edie" as a girls name?

I see Edie as a girls name.
And a beautiful one at that! :D
Gorgeous.

Laurence however, I see as being male.
It's a very feminine boy name though.
Which is why I don't think I could ever use it.

Laurent sounds more feminine to me though..
And I quite like Edie Laurent!

But to each his own! :P

I certainly recognised it was a girl name though. ♥

I would also certainly see it as a girls name! I mean, I can see the logic to where someone might think it a boys name, I guess. But to me, Edie is strictly girls name :P I actually like it as a nick name, maybe for Eden (though I'm not extremely fond of Eden right now lol!).

Laurence, I can see how someone would see it as male (though Edie is soo girly, so no excuse! :P ). Though I must agree that Laurence does look and sound more girly, and when I see it as a boys name, it makes me think of a frilly, feminine guy, lol! :D

So I personally wouldn't see it as a boys name at all! :P

Though, if you end up using this name, I don't think there would be a problem for the little girl. Middle names are conveniently not seen that often :P

I love Edie (I recently discovered I like it in the last few days actually) so I automatically read it as a girl's name. Laurence to me is still very much a boy's name. I would be more likely to use Edie Lauren, but I still love the way it sounds.

I had basically the same reaction as Yas. I see Edie as a girls name. It is a very pretty one. And I agree with Yas about Laurence. I also see it as a feminie boys name. Edie Laurent however is beautiful!
