I've been trying to create my family tree on this website recently, and I've come across some really unique and interesting names! My favorite right now is Mattimore, the surname of some of my relatives. I think it has such a cool ring to it; I've never met anyone with the last name Mattimore before. I looked it up and while the origins are mostly unknown, it's believed to be Irish or English.

I love using family names as middle names for my list! If / when I have kids, they will definitely have family middle names. I'm thinking about adding Mattimore as a middle name, but I don't know if it sounds more masculine or feminine. What do you think?

I think it sounds really cool. I'd say more masculine for sure.

Matti gives it a feminine feel while More gives it a masculine one, but I suppose overall it's more masculine to me. :)

Thanks, ladies! Since the general consensus is masculine, does anyone have any boy first name suggestions for Mattimore? Thank you!

I know several people with the last name Lattimore (sp?) however I've never heard of Mattimore. I say it leans more toward the masculine side with its similarity to Matthew/Matthias & Fillmore/Gilmore. Although, being from the Sounthern US where it is very common to give girls their mother's/grandmother's maiden names, I could see easily see it on a girl as well with the nickname "Mattie" if used in the first name spot.

I agree with Katie. Though Moore does come off as more masculine.
Makes me think of matador though...
