My husband and I are having the toughest time naming our baby boy who is due in December. This is our first child and we’re both looking for something different. My husband, whose first and middle names are Joseph Michael, wants something strong and manly but common. I, on the other hand, being named Dakota Danielle, would like something more unique (not crazy, there is a difference). I have loved growing up with my name and think it is also important for the name to be strong and manly, but not common. We’ve already decided that the baby’s middle name will be Michael, in honor of my father. Suggestions for a strong boy name that isn’t so common and will please both my husband and I?!?

When your husband says "common" I bet what he really wants is something easy to spell and pronounce. Something that people recognize when they see it. How about :

Archer Michael
Asa Michael
Sloane Michael (Although I see this as a girls name)
Cole Michael
Jared Michael (love this)
Jasper Michael (nn Jas or Jaz)
Seth Michael

Do you like any of these?

Adam Michael? It might be more common than you want, but it is decreasing in popularity. It was #82 in 2012, #81 in 2011, #81 in 2010, #74 in 2009, #72 in 2008 and so on... It has went from 72 to 82 in 4 years and I'm sure that it will continue to decrease. I would love to meet a baby Adam--it's such a handsome name. :-)

What about a common name with an unusual spelling? That should please both of you!
