I love Edward and the nickname Edd...mostly because of Edd Gould. Yet the name Ed just said casually sometimes sounds a bit weird, and Edward is frankly a bit dated. But I love the name anyway. Which is why I'm wondering if it would work better if it was just a middle name. Eddie would also be a nice nickname...
Does Edward work better as a first or middle name?

ummmmmmm middle. The Twilight Saga ruined this name for me lol but I do like Ed Sheeran, so I guess Ed would be fine.

I really like Edward, but Ed seems a bit dated to me. I think it could work alright as a first name regardless. Personally, I prefer it as a middle. I toyed with Finlay Edward for a while. 
I also love the nickname Ned.

I used to not like Ned but I think I'm starting to take a liking to it...lol. Yeah, Ned is cute too.
