Hey everyone, my first time on this site, so a little help would be peachy!
So I'm beginning to write a series of novels. I'm starting my plan, and I can't seem to come up with any names for my characters.
Basically the series is about a woman who disappeared from her small hometown at 16 years old age and returned mysteriously six years later, seemingly without an explanation of where she's been. She's different from when she left. Now she is cool, distant, and demeaning, with a sensual air about her. At the same time of her reappearance, a string of strange and horrific murders begin, leaving the town in a state of fear.
Sounds like grisly stuff, I know, but I really think it might work.
For most of these characters I'm looking for a first, middle, nickname, and surname, but a first and surname should be grand!
Main character: Female, 22, eldest child of 3. Mother deceased since she was 7, lived with her father. Disappears six years beforehand without a trace, and returns along with the mysterious deaths of local townsfolk. She is prime suspect. For her I was thinking Jolene, but I'm not too sure. Would that cause too much of a Dolly Parton image?
Supporting characters:
Main character's Ex-Boyfriend: Male, 25, youngest of 2 children. Parents still living and happily married. Main character's boyfriend at the time she disappeared, afterwards grew very close with her best friend, and married her 3 years before the main ch. reappeared. Works as Deputy and tries to solve the murders. He claims that his ex is innocent, but he still wonders.
Main character's Best Friend: Also 22, seems glad that main ch. is back in town, but inside is angered and possessive of her husband.
Thanks you guys, I'll probably be back in a few days needing the names for other characters. Please note that I'm sort of looking for forgotten gems of names. Nothing too out there, but definately not overused. Thanks again!

Where is this small town? If it takes place in the south then I think Jolene would fit.

How 'bout we start with first names for the others...

For the Ex I'm thinking something short and masculine: Shane, Mitch, Robbie, Tony, Ray, Nate, Dean, Zach ?

For the Best Friend something popular, girly and a bit blah (you want your main to stand out): Ashley, Stacey, Becca, Cassie, Deanna, Tracy, Morgan.
