A while ago I posted about a story I'm writing where a girl, who's mother died when she was young, goes to find out about her, after her dad died. Her name was going to be Margaret "Maggie" Ella, but I was reading a friend mine's story for the same competion and her main characer's name is Maggie and our story's have a lot alike. What can I say, great minds think alike! LOL.
She's changing some of her plot but I have to change my change my character's name.
Her middle name will be El spelled that way for sure. Any ideas?

I think it would be good to have something short. I like the suggestions of Lola or Alexa, Alexia, Lexi.
Since it is for a competition, I would try do do something unique. Another poster added this link http://nameberry.com/hotlists and it gave me some really good ideas. There are lists of names like Literary names, British names, etc. That all seem like they have a really cool story behind them. You may also want to visit www.nymbler.com You can choose names that inspire you, and it will give you suggested names you may like.
Ultimately, she is your character, and you know her best and what she should be named. GL!

Thanks so much guys! I loved all of the names!
I came up with a list of 5 names I really liked and could picture with my character's personality.
Character's Personality and Appearance- She's about 18, give or take a year (just graduated), amazing at basketball (plays pointguard and forward) but is a klutz the rest of the time, A-B student, painfully shy, has good sense of humor but often takes teasing to literally because of her shyness, overly emotional, longs to know her mother, resents her father, believes in love and longs to fall in love. She has thick shoulder length curly dark hair always in a ponytail, dark oval eyes, olive skin, and a bright smile, and is about 5'9".
Names: (nickname in quotations is what she would be called all the time but if it's in parentheses that would just be like an endearing nickname.)
Julia "Julie" (Jul, Juls) El
Macy (Mase) El
Samantha "Sam" (Sammy) El
Lucy (Lu, Luc, Lulu) El
Alexis (Lexi, Lex, Al, Ali, Alexi, Sis, Sissy)
