I have a question - what do you guys think of Nova? I recently discovered it while making my N-names this-or-that, and I found myself liking the stellar association and the twist-on-a-classic feel.

I think Nova is a great name!!!

I actually really like Nova, it sounds pretty.

---

Thoughts on Dwain for a boy? Or any other variants of that name.?

Not my style. I think Dwayne is fine but Dwain is a little odd. I'd prefer Wayne over both.

Kind of two parts...
Do you think Chip could work as a nickname for Caspian?
If no, what names would work with Chip as a nickname?
Charles is out. Crispin is out now too (that was my favorite option).

I think it could work for Caspian! Nicknames don't necessarily have to be really obvious :) The only other option I can think of is Christopher.

First of all, I love Caspian. Such a handsome name, I love Cas- names on boys. As for Chip as a nickname, it's a bit of a stretch if you ask me but that doesn't mean you couldn't use it. People use much more loosely related names all the time, so I think it would be fine.

The first alternative that comes to mind is Christopher, since it has all the letters in Chip and I know Kip/Kit is sometimes used as a nickname for Christopher. So why not Chip? If you like Christopher, I think this could be a really good way to go.

Another thing you could do if you wanted to reinforce the nickname-fitting a little more is have initials CP. I've seen this done similarly with initials JC for the nickname Jace. So I could see any name, say, Cyrus Patrick, with the nickname Chip, and not be that surprised either. Maybe it's a little bit of a stretch, idk, I just think it's a cool idea.

I had never thought of it, but I actually really like Shay on a boy! The combo flows super well and is very handsome. The masculinity of Leonardo sound so great with Shay.

Thoughts on sibset or just the combos in general: Lila Emily & Paige Rochelle?

I love Lila Emily! It's so sweet and pretty, and I love Paige (it's my middle name ;)  ), but I don't think Rochelle flows well with it..I do agree that it should be 2+ syllables because Paige is only one.

Middle names for Micah on a girl? I love some boy's names on girls (such as Noah and Micah), and I'm looking for some new middle names. I would want them to be feminine to balance it out..my style leans toward classic names and slightly modern names. Thanks!

The only two Chip's I know have names completely unrelated to their nickname. Chip, like Scout or Champ or Ace, seem like names that don't necessarily need to be phonetically tied to the birth certificate. That said, Caspian works great.

Just wanted to add...
Scout and Ace are both on my list actually! hahaha.
Ace is likely to be used, we'll see with Scout.
Not giving up on Chip yet. Caspian is definitely what I'm leaning towards.

Not a huge fan of Lila but I think Lila Emily sounds beautiful. Emily has really been growing on me lately and I do think the two names work well together.
Paige is a great name, I prefer it as a middle but I'm for it either way. Rochelle, not so much. I'm not sure I like the sound of it with Paige either.
Lila and Paige sound great as sisters!

Thoughts on Derek?
I've had it in the middle slot for a bit now but I keep coming back to it as a potential first name.

I love the name Derek! (Mostly because of Grey's Anatomy...) I've always kept it in the middle spot as well. I think it still works for a first name, it just isn't my style. I have used as a first in some CAFs though. I've paired it with longer, classic middle names...

Derek Alexander

Auden is beautiful!! I love it.

Do you have a preference of Katherine vs Katerina? And since they are technically the same name, could I call Katerina Katherine and vice versa?

Middle names for Auden for a girl?

I'm leaning towards Apollo with Derek, just because my SO likes mythological names so I use them to sell him on other names ;)
I do like Derek Julian but want to use Julian as a first. I like all of the rest, except maybe Derek Boston.
GA fan suggesting Derek Montgomery though... :P

Auden Rebecca
Auden Piper
Auden Isabelle
Auden Rosalie
Auden Gabrielle
Auden Michelle
Auden Sage

Personal preference would be Katherine but I think both are fine names. I think Katerina might be better to go with though.
I think Katherine could be called Katerina, if she was already being called Kat. I think Katerina being called Katherine sounds like more of a stretch, but is probably fine.

I prefer Katherine, just because I'm a fan of more classic names, but I think Katerina is a pretty name too. Since they're both full names and so similar, I think it would be a little weird to call Katherine Katerina, when her name is really Katherine... so I would just pick one, whichever her name is, and stick with it. But it's all about your personal preference  :)

What do you all think of Marceline "Marcie"?

(for clarification, I pronounce it marce-uh-LEEN.) I've been going back and forth on this name for along time and I just can't decide if I like it enough to keep it on my list. Feel free to suggest middles if you want to, I like classic and sometimes uncommon-classic names.

Thank you!

Marceline is so classic and pretty and underused. "Marcie" is an adorable nickname! I love both names! Also I love your quote and John Green!!

---

Genevieve is a name I've recently started playing around with, but I don't have many middle names for it. I did a poll on the main site, but didn't get much of a response. Suggestions? So far I have:

Genevieve Amelia

Genevieve Aurelia

Genevieve Aurora

Genevieve Charlotte

Genevieve Rosalie

Genevieve Wilder

Thanks for the feedback! And I'm a big fan of quotes in general  :)

I love Genevieve! It's another one of those lovely classics that isn't used as much anymore.

Of your suggestions, I think Genevieve Charlotte is nice, but most of the other ones have three syllables, and it just makes the combo really long and harder to flow well. Maybe consider some shorter middles?

I'm having trouble finding ones that flow well, since it seems to be a little offbeat as a first. Here's what I could think of -

Genevieve Arden

Genevieve Alice

Genevieve Cora

Genevieve Iris

Genevieve Margo

Genevieve Pearl

Genevieve Nora

Genevieve Reese

Genevieve Lucy

Genevieve Ida/Genevieve Ada

Genevieve Sage

Genevieve Lark

Genevieve Blair

Genevieve Adair

Genevieve Wren

Hope you find some ideas in here!

Question: What do you guys think of Raven?

I recently rediscovered it, and it's stuck in my mind. I like that ravens are known for being extremely smart birds, and the association with a dark color is cool, although I feel like it would really only work on a dark-haired child.

I like it for girls, but I'm starting to consider it for boys too.

What are your thoughts?

I think Raven is a good name regardless of gender, it definitely has a good sound, it sounds unique, and its a name of a nice bird so it would be a good unisex name. But i do agree it would work better on a dark hair child but i wouldn't completely rule it out if not dark hair.

I actually think Raven is a great name

I've been digging the name Pamela (Nicknames "Pam/Pammy") but I can't think of any middle names for it right now what are your guys' ideas
