Pheriby (FAIR uh bee) is an old family name that I ran across a while back and I've been wanting to use it in the middle name spot.
I've also been thinking about using the name Ferris (FAIR iss) for a girl...maybe spelling it Feris/Faris.
It occurred to me that Pheriby & Ferris have very similar sounds. Do you think that Ferris/Pheris (sp?) would work as a nn for Pheriby.
Also which spelling would you go with. Later generations used different spellings of Pheriby...Feraby, Fariby.

I definitely like Pheriby spelled this way. It looks okay with the F, but I like it best with the Ph.
I think you could technically use Ferris as a nick name anyways. Why not? I feel like the nick name is kinda loosely attached to Pheriby personally. Like, it works... but its not very obvious a nick name. The beginning Pher of course makes sense. But yeah. So I'd just use the spelling you like!

I can see it.. but here's my problem.
I like the spelling Pheriby and Ferris, so makes it a little awkward trying to relate it.
But it's like using Zoe for Sophia, Bill for William or Dick for Richard.
My instinct would be to use Farrah for Pheriby actually... ♥

Yeah I was thinking that about Farrah being the more obvious nn. I'm not to keen of Farrah though.
I guess my problem is that I'm liking both Ferris (sp?) and Pheriby for first names, but since they have the same beginning sound I wouldn't want to use both. So deciding which I like better is a problem.
I think I like the sound of Ferris more, it seems a bit cleaner and fits with my other favorites but I'm having difficulty deciding on a spelling that doesn't scream male yet makes the pron. obvious. I guess I'm not opposed to changing the spelling of a name as long as it makes the name easier to pron. and isn't too crazy...no Pharrhyss here.
Pheriby however has the family connection and I do LOVE that it is unusual with a unique sound yet still familiar (similar to Farrah, Phoebe or Charity) which makes it easy to pronounce.

I see what you mean. I personally like Ferris as a first name and Pheriby as a middle name.
Edie, True, River and Ferris are all very cute together.
Mm. I get where you're coming from with the spelling.
The only ones I like are Ferris and Faris.
What about Farys maybe? I don't know.
