I've decided to start writing a book based on my childhood and teenage years. I won't trouble you with the details, besides that my daddy left us when I was in diapers and my mama is big on drinking.
I don't know what to do bout names. I don't even know where to start. The main characters at the very beginning will be based on me, Mama, my brother, and my best friend.
I really need help kicking this off. I'd be so thankful for anything y'all can say!

I think I'm great at naming Characters (others may have a different opinion 
) I think you should use a twist on your real names:
Example: I listed to a radio program and my *one* of my favorite Characters is named Robert Mitchell "Mitch". So, If I was going to use him in a story, I may name him a classic name for a first name "Oscar" and give him a lastname were he can get his nickname, might even use Mitchell. But in your case, since your name is Athena, Maybe Lina, or Enna would be good for your character.

Hey, I was just wondering, O-Ryley Texas...is that Radio program called Adventures in Odyssey??? 
Athena, good luck on your story! That's a really neat idea to do it based off your life. If I were you, I would probably use some of my favorite names. If you ever wished your name was something else, I would use the name you would have liked for your own name. Just go with whatever names you love, and if possible--think of names that you could easily see on your family members and friends. Good luck! I'm sure your story will be wonderful!
