I've always loved the name Hazel. I just find it so pretty and to me it seems timeless and a name that will age well. However I am not hesitant to even consider using due to the rising popularity of The Fault in Our Stars (main character is named Hazel Grace).

Do you think due to the popularity of this movie that the name Hazel will skyrocket in popularity? The main male led is named Gus (Augustus) and that name is becoming wildly popular (I don't think this has much to do with the movie because I noticed August/Augustus rising in popularity before but it definitely won't hurt the popularity of the name). I just don't want to end up using a name that is going to end up in the top 30 next year you know? Every time I fall in love with a name is seems like it just jumps up in popularity out of no where.

I feel like Hazel is definitely becoming more popular. Partly because nature names seem to be on the rise, but also because of this film/book, which is now HUGE. I love the name Hazel but I don't think I'd ever use it, unless in 5 years or something and it definitely hasn't become popular... but I have a feeling it is going to. Of course, I'm sure lots of people will still use it in spite of this, but I don't think I would.

I love the name Hazel. I would have liked to use it but with having a son named Hayes it clashed big time. I don't think Hazel will get overly popular like most people believe it will. I've read the book and seen the movie; hence, I don't think people will name their daughter Hazel because they might think that their child will somehow contract cancer because of the name (people are gullible and stupid and most tend to believe anything you tell them). So no, Hazel is a good choice and one you can confide in for timeless beauty.
