I have fell in love with two names, for boys, that are traditionally girls names. I useually HATE unisex names, (no offence!!!, I don't mind it for myself though... go figure.) But, I fell in love with Madison and Alexis for boys. I don't know why! I just LOVE them!!!!

Spellings for boys

Madison - Maddison, Maddeson, Madeson, Maddasen, Madasen, Madason (Need somemore)

Alexis - Alexxes, Alexes, Alexas, Alexys, Alexxis, Alexis (Need more)

Tell me what you think.

I have seen Madison for a boy before (I swear I even met a kid at a child care centre with the name one day, but I can't be sure. I heard him called Madison, Maddy/Matty and Matthew all in one day so...). I am not a fan of the name for a boy or a girl. It's just not my style. But I do see it more as a girl's name, though I think it's ok to use for a boy. I think I like the spelling Madison best, though.

As for Alexis, again, I have heard it used as a boy's name, but I definitely think it's a girl's name. Well I like it for a girl anyway. My favourite spelling is Alexis.

I know a girl who's little sister dated a guy named Madison :D I don't care for it on a boy-- especially being it's so popular on a girl! Though, if you plan on using Madison, I would definitely keep it's original spelling!!!

Alexis, I can kind of see on a boy. It's nice... Alexis Matthew would be pretty handsome :D

Madison is not my thing on either sex.

I actually really like Alexis on a boy. I prefer the French pronunciation al-ek-SEE. I also like the Russian Alexei and the Finnish Aleksi.

I see Madison as a girls name, but have heard it on boys as well.
I've never meet a male Alexis but don think it's a bad idea. Although I still like it more on a girl.

How about Alexei? It's got some interesting history and I think it sounds more masculine than any other Alex- name except Alexander.

Also, I'm pretty sure Madison and Alexis are *traditionally* boy names. They have just become more popular on girls. Like Leslie or Ashley. I wouldn't spell them any differently.

I honestly don't like Madison or Alexis on either sex, but in the interest of being helpful...

Here's what Nameberry has to say:

Alexis - "Leapt into the female column via vixen Alexis Carrington on 'Dynasty" in the 1980-s--it's now #15 for girls--but still holding its own for boys." I was right. It is traditionally a boy name. Nameberry says it means "Man's defender"

Madison - "When a name has been in the girls' Top 10 for a decade, would you really want to inflict it on a son?" Yep, another traditionally boy name that went to the dark - I mean girls' - side. Nameberry says it means "son of the mighty warrior."

Nameberry does list a few variants for both (though I don't know if they are legitimate or what), but I felt that Mattison and Madsen felt the most masculine.

I have to say that I'm really not big on the boys-names-on-girls thing. Just like I don't want to use a name for a boy that is more popular on girls, or is getting popular. There are some unisex names I like, Quinn for example. I just tend to stick with either wholly masculine names or wholly feminine names.

Wesley is alright, and definitely better than Ryan, Noah, and Logan. I just wouldn't use it and I don't think I'd like it on a girl at all. No offense, of course.

Oh, and if you like Madison on a boy, what about Madden? That's definitely masculine, if a bit trendy, and it's really quite close to Madison.
