I like the name Nate for a boy, but I'm not fond enough of Nathan or Nathaniel to use it as a nickname.  That being said, do you think Nate can stand on its own?  I'm thinking that since Kate is being used more often on its own (both as a first and middle name), then can't Nate?  Any opinions are appreciated - thanks in advance!

Personally, I much prefer Nathaniel. Nathan and Nate are nms, but I LOVE Nathaniel. Other than that, it's nice on other people's kids 😉

I like it! It's super cute! I honestly don't see why it can't stand on its' own!

I don't see an issue with Nate standing on its own - though I would try pair it with a longer middle, say, Christopher or Alexander, to balance it out. I personally love Nathan "Nate" but I think Nate is just fine on its own. He might have to explain a few times "No, it's just Nate, not short for anything," but that's not a huge deal. Go for it!

Personally, I absolutely love Nate, but as a nickname for Nathaniel/Nathanael. I guess it could stand on its own, but I prefer nicknames to have a longer form.

If it's what you love, go for it.

I think Nate works perfectly fine on it's own. I thought of Kate as well, how it sounds the same and works perfect. :)
