I've been working on finding realistic names for my characters.. and I'm stumped on one girl. I was thinking a nature name would suit, but I am opened to other options as well. I'm also unsure on a nick name for my main character...

1. Spunky, quirky, and outgoing. Her family is very outgoing and liberal. I suppose hippie would accurately describe them. She can feel very insecure, but she tends to hide it in boldness. (as in she gets self conscious about how she looks, but you'd never know it as she'll act outgoing and confident to hide it.). I suppose I imagine her similar to the pic below. Originally, her name was Dahlia. But Dahlia feels too unrealistic. Rose, Lily, Daisy, etc seem too boring for her. She's between 20-22 years old in my story (apparently IRL this models 20 years old.. makes me laugh cause she looks so much younger)

2. Cecelia is the main characters nick name. I wanted her to have a nick name, I was thinking Celie (pronounced seal-ee). Would Celie be the best spelling? Or would another spelling be better, a more obvious one? Or should I chose another nick name. Cece's alright.. Lia is okay. Somewhere around 20-22 years old as well. I'm opened to suggestions though I imagine her to look similar to this. Sorry its so big :/

Other characters in my story...

Connor (Cecelia's boyfriend)

Rory (Celie and Connors son, about 1 year old)

Violet (the unnamed character's little sister)

No names are set in stone atm, though I am really liking them as is. Anyway, if you could help with either I'd appreciate it so much!

For your "hippie," maybe:

Acadia "Cady"

Allegra

Aspen

Azura

Blaise / Blaze

Coriander "Cori" ( a spice )

Fawn

Fern

Honesty

Journey

Kaia

Magnolia "Maggie"

Melodia

Pepper

Petula

Petunia

Poplar

Promise

River

Shiloh

Skyler

Stormy

Summer

Zora

What about the nickname Celia? Celie is so cute, but I do think it may get pronounced wrong.

Thanks for the feedback! :) I like these names for the first girl: Fern, Kaia, River, Shiloh, Skyler, or Summer.

Celia would also be cute! Sad that Celie is easy to get wrong cause I really think it suits her. But I know when I read things I hate reading a name over and over and thinking "how am I suppose to be reading this?!" lol. It kinda makes me think of Seeley Booth in Bones, I started watching that recently. But I think if I spelled it Seeley / Seely people would wonder where the heck that nn came from :(

Thanks again, Addy! :)

If it's not too late I would like to suggest Sage or Lyra.  I also like the name Winter but I don't think it's quite her.  What did you decide?

When I saw that picture I automatically thought of these
Jade
Laurel
Violet
Christine/Christina
Angelina

As for the nickname, I once met a girl named Cecelia that was called Eelsy(eel-see) I thought it was a perfect nickname without being to cookie-cutter to the full name. It's also not as common as Cece, Lia, Celia, etc. Good luck!
