I don't remember where I heard this name to be honest, but recently I've fallen in love with it and it's like #2 on my boys likes (#1 is still Beau).

I'd probably use it with a more classic middle name,or use it as a middle name, like

Essex Thomas / Thomas Essex

Essex Gabriel / Gabriel Essex

Essex Michael / Michael Essex

Essex William / William Essex

What do you guys think?

Essex is a county in England, maybe you heard it when people talked about England?

Thomas Essex is really gorgeous!

As Bewitching said Essex is a county in England, and I personally can't see it as a name for a child. It's also the surname of a singer/actor that my step-mum likes.

If I had to choose one of your options then Michael Essex would be the one I chose.

I have to agree with the previous posters... I don't really see Essex as usable, not only because it is unusual as a name, but also because it is a bit of a mouthful for young kids to say. For instance, though I love Thomas, Essex Thomas is a bit of a tongue-twister!

That being said, I think Essex could still work as a middle name for a more conventional first name. Gabriel Essex, Michael Essex, and William Essex are all usable to me, but I agree with Hannah that I like Michael Essex best!
