Hi everyone, I'm curious: Which names, both girls' and boys', do you really like but refrain from using? Why? I for one like but stay away from the names Paisley, Katrina, Jezebel, Delilah, and Piper for girls and Napoleon, Ryder, Nixon,Clinton, and Antonio for boys. Thanks for sharing, A.J. :)

I have and always will LOVE the name Prynn Aphrodite but will never name my child that.
I also have this thing for 'nature' names so for a boy I would go with Leif Freyr(Frey). I think it's cute as can be!

For boys I love Gideon, Truly and Wrestling. Girls are harder. I have a lot of girls names that I like that are now GP's because of family members using or my bf's dislike of them.

I agree with you on Paisley... I like the sound of it, but I worry that a girl with that name could be teased. I like Nixon too.

Other GPs of mine: Persephone, Carmen, Gemma, Gianna, Carlotta, Bentley, Hugh, Lawrence... those are the only ones I can think of right now.

What is your guilty-pleasure names? Would you ever use them on your own children? Would you advise friends and family to use it?

Mine would have to be....

Keats & Atticus

and then for a girl:

Isolde & Athena

I would have used Keats and Isolde if they sounded well with Hayes. To me they bring out that old charm but with that modern lust. I would advise my sister, who is currently pregnant, to use Atticus since she is a huge fan of To Kill a Mocking Bird and the fact she has a kooky naming style; She named her daughter Delphinium Monet.

What is yours? :)

Though guilty pleasure names are called such for a reason, I think to even have such a list we have considered using them, even in just in the back of our minds.

Here's my list:

Briar Rose
Anza Lyric
Elliot Quinn {Ellie or Ellie-Quinn}
Lark Harper
Helen Olympia
Adia Monet
Fantine
Caela
Alexander Helios
August Julian
Padrig Owen

Been seriously considering Briar Rose recently, though I feel like its one that you either absolutely love or completely hate. Many of the other names are there more for the combo as a whole, so I might end up using parts of some of them.

Also, I think Isolde and Keats actually go quite well with Hayes :]

Really? My husband and I are thinking of using one of those in either as a middle name or possibly a first. Right now we are hung up on the names Henry & Penelope.

Briar Rose is a gorgeous name! Love it!
Padrig Owen, I went to college with a guy named Padrig and always thought he had the coolest name ever!
