I loved the name Iorek (the name of an armored bear in The Golden Compass) but that isn't a human name... when I read Night, I was fascinated by the three Polish-Jewish inmates at Auschwitz named Idek, Franek and Juliek, and from then on I noticed, in all the stuff about the Holocaust I read (that's a special interest of mine) I took notice of all the guys with first names ending in "ek". They were all Polish. Before that I had noticed that about 90% of the Jewish females in Europe in that time had names ending in a.

Any name, nickname, diminutive, alias or pseudonym ending in "ek" that I have been seen used for a male or a male character in a work of fiction:

Tadek
Waldek
Poldek
Bronek
Josek
Jacek
Jurek
Julek
Juliek
Idek
Franek
Romek
Pilarek
Berek
Srulek
Moniek
Mietek
Mikek
Moshek
Helek
Janek
Lonek
Edek
Derek
