I'll be the first to say I absolutely HATE the name Belle and any form of the name Isabel/Isabella. However, I do believed the name Beau, commonly used for boys, has great girl potential! 

Beau is pronounced "Bow" which, when placed with a feminine middle name can be very girly. Some names like:

• Beau Alison
• Beau Catherine

I personally love the name Beau Alison, and I'm putting it on my girls list.

 

I dunno, what do you guys think?

I've never heard a girl with the name Beau. I couldn't see this as a girls name whatsoever.

I agree with Emily. It just doesn't seem like a girl name to me. I'm also not a fan of Belle, though I do love Isabel. What about Isabeau nn Beau? Or Bonita, Bonnie, or Ebony nn Bo.

I know a little boy named Beau I also think of the comedian Bo Burnam.

 

I can see where your coming from where Beau sounds like a bow you'd put in a girls hair or something, but for some odd reason it only comes off as masculine to me <3 Sorry!

I like the name for a boy; although I've never considered it for a girl before, I can see the potential. I don't know..I'd use it for a girl. I think it could be cute, but I also think I could see it on an older woman as well.

 

I think the name Isabelle/Isabella is so pretty, but I don't like it much either anymore...too overused. I'm tired of hearing it. :/

Beau is a masculine english name. Yes it does mean "beautiful" in French. It ranks 311 for boys in the US and 40 in Australia (NSW). Shockingly in England/Wales and the Netherlands it shows up on both charts. For boys 187 and 212 respectively and for girls 275 and 335 respectively. 

 

I see Beau as a boys name and only a boys name. 

 

Also Bo is a masculine swedish and danish name as well as a gender neutral chinese name. Bo means "to live" from its derived Old Norse name (Bui). And Bo also means "wave" in Chinese. This spelling (Bo) actually ranks on both charts as well. In the US, Bo only ranks on the boys chart (at 786). In Belgium its only on the girls chart (at 95). And lastly in the Netherlands it ranks on both charts at 413 for boys and 75 for girls. 

 

I'd rather see Bo over Beau for girls. Altho I still see it as a boys name. 

 

I think of Bo Jackson (NFL & MLB All Star) and Bo Bice (American Idol). I also think of Beau Biden (a lawyer/politician) and Beau Bridges (an actor) when i see this name.

 

I do see where you are coming from. They do sound like "Bow".
