Hello, people of Writers Block! I need your creative minds to help me once again. I've just started a new story (more keep coming and I'm waaaay in over my head). Anyway, there are only a few factors I've decided upon so far. The story is about a young princess who's about the age of 16 or 17. She's never been allowed to leave the castle's property, and is never allowed to attend the parties and galas that her parents throw, even though all her younger siblings are allowed. She has long, long, long auburn hair that goes down a little farther than her behind. She's a dreamer; she spends most of her time buried in books. Since she cannot leave, she finds her escape in a good book. This is set in a small kingdom far far away, so I'm really looking for something more classic, and a much more fanciful than what we hear today. It can even be made up. I'll need names for her mother and father, too. The reason she isn't allowed anywhere is because no one but those who live or work in the castle knows she exits. Her mother had her out of wedlock when she was 17. The girl's true father was a stable boy who was about the same age as her mother. She doesn't know that she's an illegitimate child. Her mother never could tell her. You all will be appreciated forever if you would please just offer a few names. Thanks!

Names needed for:
Young Princess (16ish)
Queen- Mother (32ish)
King- supposed Father (35ish)
True Father (33ish)
Guard- best friend of Princess (18ish)
Maid- other best friend of Princess (17ish)

I really like the suggestion of Rosaline/Rosalina for the princess, I think it fits that description very well.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.
Those are great names!
They're very mystic and darkly magical, which is exactly what I'm going for.
I'm still undecided, so more names would always be appreciated.

I think it would be helpful to know the setting in which the story takes place - an alternative universe? The Renaissance? Medieaval Germany? - Basically to avoid using names that seem completely out of place, like naming your prince Brandon, or your Scadinavian princess Megan.

Anyway, here are my ideas:

Young Princess (16ish)
Classical: Beatrice, Helena, Katharine, Madeleine, Isabella, Louisa, Theodora, Agnes, Frederica, Georgiana, Adelaide.
Unusual: Arabella, Rowena, Anastasia, Ottilie, Esmée, Amabel, Clémence, Theodosia.

Queen- Mother (32ish)
Augusta, Caroline, Victoria, Alexandra, Josephine, Eleanor, Maud, Georgiana, Constance.
Astrid, Isabeau, Xenia, Benedicta, Philippa, Millicent, Dagmar, Tatiana.

King- supposed Father (35ish)
Alfred, George, Frederick, David, Alexander, William, James.
Felix, Leopold, Theophilus, Basil, Conrad, Linus, Joachim

True Father (33ish)
John, Maximilian, Arthur, Benedict, Louis, Edward, Edmund, Richard
Alexis, Ferdinand, Augustus, Emil, Lucan, Sebastian, Ambrose, Valdemar.

Guard- best friend of Princess (18ish)
Jude, Rowan, Henry, Oliver, Conrad, Mathias, Calum, Gregory, Jacob, Rory, Dominic.

Maid- other best friend of Princess (17ish)
Maud, Rose, Iris, Pearl, Hero, Mercy, Sophie, Ada, Cecily, Lucy, Florence, Lillith, Saoirse, Niamh.

Honestly if you're going to have the mother having only been about 16 when she was born I'd change the "young princess'" age a bit. Try making her only about 13. Because... in this scenario she's aged and should already be married. Since, her parents were sixteen and seventeen when she was conceived.

Juuuuuust saying.

And, I like the names that InstantDreams suggested.

For the young princess, I like the suggestions of Rosalina/Rosalie or any name ending in -bella/belle. Those sort of names always sound princess-ish to me : ) Maybe Ophelia. Though, Katherine/Kathryn is really pretty!
For the queen/mother, I think Catherine is a name that I can picture best on a queen, maybe Maeve or Theresa, or Caroline.
For the king, the name george immidiately came to mind. Maybe Lance or Lochnivar(sp?) would fit, too. Though, Lochnivar is from a poem I read in literature class, so that probubly wouldn't work. What about Alfred, William, or maybe Aiden (which is probubly to modern, but I can picture a king names Aiden) : )
For the true father, his name could be Arther or Winifred? Can't think of any names for him, really.
For the guard, I really love the suggestions of Rory or Jacob, but I think Hamelton, Christiphor (nn Chriss), Gregory (nn Greg), Luke, Michael, or Matthew would be sweet!
For the maid, maybe Victoria, Vanessa, Erin, Megan, or Caroline.
GL with your story, and you'l also have to keep me as well informed as you can! I've always loved the princess stories, but a lot of them arn't written well. But I like how you've planned this one so far. Have you got a basic plan of whats going to happen with the princess?

Again, thanks for all the names! :D
I have finally gotten a lock on the names I want and if you're just curious to know this is what I chose.

Princess: Graziella (I found this name ages ago and thought it was so beautiful)
Queen/Mother: Rosaline (I thought it fit better for the mother than her daughter)
King/supposed father: Lochnivar (Thanks Hayden Taylor it was exactly what I was looking for!)
True father: Ambrose (thanks InstantDreams)
Guard: Rogan (I really liked Rory and Rowan, but they didn't quite fit him so I found something really close)
Maid: Aria (another name I found ages ago and was in love with)

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the time you took to give me some suggestions. It was beyond helpful.

For those of you who are curious......

The story is based around the young, beautiful Princess Graziella (known to her friends as Ella or Zia). She's always cooped up in the castle, and her parents never allow the public eye to see her. She is, obviously, very upset about this and continues to argue with her mother about it. One night, her family throws a masquerade ball and she sneaks into the party. She meets a young boy (name undecided I'm thinking Liam) and they hit it off. She doesn't tell him who she is, but is head over heels for him.

Since her best friend is one of the maids, she hears all the gossip in the castle and overhead some of the other maids discussing an argument the queen and king were having. The king didn't understand why his wife wouldn't let their eldest child out into the world. She argues that word of her affair from when she was so young would leak out and their family would be disgraced. The king knew Graziella was not his child, but still cared for her nonetheless. So when Aria (Graziella's maid best friend) tells her that the king is not her father, Graziella flips out.

I'm not sure if she'll go looking for her father or not, or what exactly is going to happen with the boy she meets at the ball.

Any suggestions?

I'm glad you found the perfect names! And I'm glad I could help :D
At the ball, I think that he should be the one to find her. She's standing near a group of girls around her age, just getting to know some people, then he comes and says hi, then asks her to dance. All the girls she's talking to are jelous, of course, cause he's really hot. They dance and what not, but when the ball's coming to an end and he has to leave, he promises to see her again. Maybe they can fall in love, but you could always add a twist, like she finds him at a town festival one night and ends up with his best friend or something like that : )
Maybe the boy she meets (Liam?) only wants her for her looks. She could be with him for a while then she finds him doing something stupid (like being with other girls, having anger issues, anything that comes of your intrest) So Graziella was all in love with him and thinking they would marry, then leaves him for the whatever he was doing. Maybe she can fall in love with the guard? Or (Liam's) best friend? (Liam) could be a 'too-good-to-be-true' type of guy.
I don't think she'd go out and look for her father. Unless she go's out to find her father with (Liam) and they fall in love then. Or her mom could just introduce them, which isn't that exiting, but he could always help Graziella sneak out of the castle. He could be an exuse to get out of the castle. She could request to live with him. Then she gets out into the 'real world' and see's everything she's missing isn't all that great. Then she'd easily be able to go to a festival and see (Liam)!
Ohh! She could also just hear rumors of (Liam)'s bad doing and be cought in a predicament that makes it look like the rumors are true so she gets upset and leaves him. She go's to someone else, and the book makes it seems like their going to get married. Maybe they are! Maybe they have a wedding arranged and (Liam) end up coming to the wedding. And when she see's him she leaves the wedding with him and they run off somewhere! I'm getting exited just thinking up all the idea's of what might happen! :D You must let me know what you decide to happen now that I'm getting exited : ).
WDYT of these idea's so far, you want more of them? GL with the story!

Wow, Hayden Taylor, you can sure think up of some amazing plot twists. Mine are all so boring compared next to the suggestions you gave me.
I like the idea of Liam and Graziella falling in love when she tries to look for her father. I also like the idea of Liam looking like he's committed a crime that he hasn't. I think I'll combine them for just the right amount of romance, mystery, and a good heart-wrenching struggle. Thank you so much for all you've done to help. I can't thank you enough!!!!

Your welcome! We bolth got to help each other get a good story going! Maybe I read too much (if that's possible), cuz I kinda got inspired by thinking about Taylor Swift's "Love Story" (have you heard the song?) and a book I read (Ophelia) then started twisting the plot until it got idea's, lol. That's kinda how I got my idea for the story I'm working on (exept with different stories, of course.) You'l have to e-mail it to me (on my sisters e-mail. For whatever reason Ryan-gal doesn't want me to show my e-mail adress). I have to read it! GL and best of wishes!
