1. What do you think of the name Veronica Esmé?

2. If I prefer the pronunciation Ez-may (which is legitimate) should I use Esme or Esmé?

Veronica
Origin: Latin
Meaning: "True image" or "She who brings victory"
Rank: #279

Esmé

Origin: French
Meaning: "Esteemed" or "Loved"
Rank: Not in top 1000 names

Oooh! I love it. :(
I have Esmé Carina on my list.

Veronica Esmé would be my option. The whole "é" with the accent, would make me want to pronounce it "Meh" or, in the English prn. "May". So I think the accent just points it out.
Esme(e) might be mispronounced as "Ez-mee". {Although with the whole "Twilight association", I doubt people would pronounce it the other way}

If that made any sense at all!
Hopefully you get what I meant.

EDIT: Also, I love the meaning of both names. And they're a lovely pair!

Veronica Esmé - gorgeous!!!

I think they flow beautifully, even though the transition from the end of Veronica's a to teh E Esmé is slightly choppy, but not enough to hinder it's beauty :(

And I definitely think the accent should be on the E! I always pronounced it ez-may, and the accent definitely makes me think of that pronunciation anyways.

Is there another way to say Esme? It's not a favorite of mine, so I never really thought too much about it. I always assumed it was ez-may lol <3

I like it.

I think Esme with the accent is the way to go...though I would pronounce either spelling (EZ may). I didn't know there was another correct way of saying it :(

I'm with Katie on this one. I really love the name Esme, and I would spell it without the accent. And I'm the same way, I would pronounce both ways EZ-may because I thought that was the correct way to do it.

I asked about the pronunciation because several websites had people who pronounced it {Ez-mee} even though the websites list the pronunciation as {Ez-may}. I just wanted to be sure the pronunciation was clear with or without the accent. There were quite a few people named or with daughters name Esme that used the {Ez-mee} pronunciation so I suppose I can't say they are mispronouncing it. I definitely prefer the accent myself, the only hangup seems to be that databases and whatnot might not include the accent. That seems unimportant, however, compared with using the original spelling when Esmé is just a middle name.

Here are a few places where the pronunciation was confused:
Behind the Name - Esme
Appellation Mountain Comments - Esme

I think the one good thing Twilight did was make it so most people can pronounce Esmé properly. I'd guess the name will rise quite a bit in the next few years but I don't mind seeing as it is already so far down on the list compared to superstars Jacob and Isabella.

Thanks Yaz, and I told you before I LOVE Esmé Carina.

Yeah, the transition from Veronica to Esme is a bit choppy, but I think Veronica is so long and hard that it is difficult to find a name it isn't choppy with.

Oh, now that you mention it, I have heard it Ez-mee before... But Ez-may is totally superior! :) tehehe! I do like it with the accent, definitely makes the may sound more! :(

I think it is beautiful, I simply love the name Esme! Simple, beautiful, elegant. And paired with Veronica, it's a nice mix of long and short. I like it both with and without the accent. It depends on where you live I think. It seems in America that anything against the grain gets spun way out of proportion, and the accent that was trying to help pronunciation might make things worse. Just a thought.
But overall, I'm loving this combo! :(

I like both pronunciations with Veronica, but I like ez-may more. Pretty name!
