First Name or Middle Name?

Martin likes it because Clay and variations thereof are family names and family names are important to him. His dad's side of the family is very Irish and they actually have a claymore on the mantle. And, per Martin, its just a B.A. name.
I'm not sold on using it as a first because it would take a special kind of kid to wear that name but if I put it in the middle I feel like I'm "hiding" the name and all the reasons Martin likes it.
What do you think?

I don't think Claymore is too out there. I could see it working out okay in the first name spot, and like you said, he could always go by Clay.

I'm trying to think up some good combos for it both as a first and middle that "fit" with my others but my whole list is in shambles so nothing fits anyway.
Claymore James? Claymore Anthony? Damien Claymore?

Claymore Noah

Martin's brother said it should be Claymore Charles since his name is Clayton Charles and clearly he is awesome. Do I understand 14 year old boys? No. Do they entertain me? Yes.

Claymore, like, as in the M18A1 Claymore??? I know the mine was named after the sword, but it seems super violent, and most people are familiar with them. Why not just Clay? I like Clay a lot.

Clay is an option but there are 4 Clays, three Claytons (two of whom go by Clay) and a Barclay in the family so we were looking for other "Clay" names.

Clayson maybe? I have a good friend with Clayson as his name.
I know someone with the surname Clayman. That could work.
I've always liked the English Clayborne.
I had a teacher with the surname Clayden. Rhymes with Aidan.
