This has been one of my top name choices ever since I was little and I was just wondering how you personally would pronounce it?

Ah-ree-uh or Air-ee-uh or something else?

And where do you put the emphasis?

AH-ree-uh, ah-REE-uh, ah-ree-UH?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)

I'd pronounce it like the musical term - ARE-ee-uh. I think it's cute, and the musical meaning adds depth without being overtly word-like :)

I always want to pronounce it AH-ree-uh, as it sounds gorgeous and lovely like that. But AIR-ee-uh is definitely also a legitimate pronunciation (its probably "the right one" being the name is based off the musical term, and musically thats how it would be pronounced). Idk though!

Thank you all for your thoughts and comments! I have been pronouncing it AH-ree-uh rather than ARE-ee-uh or AIR-ee-uh and i definitely like that pn the best! I'm not sure why, I think it just sounds more elegant and flowy! Thanks again! :)

Hi Gems,

My name is actually Aria and it is pronounced Are-ee-uh. Every musician, which this name is actually a musical term first and foremost, prounounces it this way as well. And I grew up around a crap ton of musicians (my dad is a concert pianist). Haha

I don't really think this name had multiple pronounciations although people will come up with every name under the sun in an attempt to pronounce this name right :)

It's not a super common name (at least not my generstion) and most people when I introduce myself know what an aria is (just no idea how to spell it) so I'd try and keep the pronounciation pretty standard only because its a term first, name second. ;)

Anyway, just food for thought and some of my experiences. It truly is a great name and I love it! I constantly get comments about how beautiful my name is. ;) just a shame it's getting so trendy! ;(

I prn it AH-ree-uh. (First heard it watching PLL and just do it the way they have)

Though after watching "Game of Thrones", I've learnt that some prn. it "ARE-ya".

But it might just be the accent.
