I recently came across the name Tunnie, although I'm unsure how to pronounce it. I would say it (TOO nee) but I could see it being pronounce (TUN nee) as well. What would be your initial thought on seeing this name?

I kind of like TOO nee as a possible nickname for a family name: Tulaine




Edit: I found the name Tunie on babynamespedia-> http://www.babynames...m/meaning/Tunie which states it is a variant/nickname for Petunia.

Do you like the Tunie or Tunnie spelling? Or maybe Tuney/Tunney?

If it was Tunnie my initial thought would be TUN-NEE but if it was Tunie I would think TYOON-EE (as in tune)

I don't like it stand-alone, but said "toon-ee" as a nickname for Petunia, it's cute!

I read it "TUN-ee" because of the two N's. It's better with one N.

Mm when the pronunciation TWO-knee came up it made perfect sense, but my first impression was TUN-nee :/ I think maybe Tunie would help, the double N definitely makes it look less TWO and more TUN lol <3

Thanks, I think the spelling Tunie makes the pronunciation more clear as well.

After I posted this I remembered that in the Harry Potter books, Harry's mom Lily called her sister Petunia, Tunie when they were young.

I definitely think Tunie only works as a nickname, but I'm not a huge fan of Petunia. Do you think it would work as a nickname for Tulaine? Some other possible full names I found are Fortuna, Neptuna, Atunne, Tutilena.

I also came across the name Tuuli which is Finnish for wind. Which do you prefer Tunie or Tuuli/Tulie? Both could work as a nickname for Tulaine.

I prefer Tulie for Tulaine, it's really cute! Tunie's cute too, though. I also like Lainey.

Just by looking at the name I would pronounce it Too-nee because it looves like Petunia or Tulip which has that same sound.

Hmm, can't say I like it all that much but it does have a different flow to it. I just can't help but think of Looney Tunes when I hear it or pronouce in the two different ways it could be pronouced.

But I'd say it would be pronouced Too-nee because it does resemble around Petunia. Anyway it's a unique name I'll give you that.

I kinda love Tulaine! Its unique but not out there <3 I mean, I kinda think it sounds more familiar because it sounds like "two lane". I wouldn't find that bad though. I kinda like Tunie a little more because when she's being silly like little kids do you can call her Loony Tunie! That doesn't sound mean, right? I think it sounds adorable.. when said endearingly of course <3 I really like Tulie as well though. I prefer Tulie because it looks more put together, though Tuuli certainly has neat roots.
