haha. my aunt used to teach at a mainly hispanic school and the mom's who didn't know much english did the same thing. there was this one who thought they named the baby for her when she saw FEMALE plus the last name on the card, so she kept the name, except she pronounced it (feh-MALL-ee). Another woman named her twin girls Orangejello and Lemonjello (Orange-hello) and (Leh-MON-hello)

Wow! I've never seen that happen before but those are all crazy! We live in an area with a high hispanic population but they generally go with classic Spanish names, ie: Maria, Juan, Jose, Miguel, etc.
