This was announced earlier this month but Lily Allen's baby girl's name was leaked. Mrs. Lily Allen-Cooper gave birth on November 26th, 2011 to healthy baby girl. The baby girl is a miracle after Lily Allen suffered two miscarriages in the last couple of years. The baby girl's name is...

Ethel Mary Cooper

Lily has a taste for old fashion names. I'm not a fan of it. WAY too old for a little girl. WDYT?

I personally love it! Its such a switch from "normal" cleb baby names! You say its way to old for a little girl, what about the Ethel's that are around today, they were little girls once too.

When THEY were little girls. LOL. Today the name envokes an older woman, not a newborn baby. Or to me. It doesn't fit a baby nowadays. I think it's a celeb name in a different way. Like Hazel and Phinneas. Not saying they are bad names though. At least they will age well.

NMS AT ALL, sorry but Ethel?! All i can picture is a little old lady with her cane, not a sweet baby girl. Mary Ethel would've been better imo, I love Mary for any age.

Ditto. My step-grandma was named Ethel, we called her Grammy Ethel so when I hear Ethel I think of her. Mary Nell is my Grandma (mom's mom). She has always gone by Nell, not Mary. I think Mary is a nice name, it is timeless because it has always been around, not just when our grandparents were kids. I would consider using Mary to honor my Grandma if it weren't for my Dad's girlfriend being named Mary as well. Ethel on the other hand is very dated and not what I would call a "pretty" name. Plus, being a chemist I hear Ethel I think ethyl ether or what not...

Yuck! ;)

In my opinion, Ethel just doesn't suit Babies these days.. It's a very harsh sounding name.. it kinda reminds me of petrol [or Gas].

Personally, the name Ethel is a bit "clunky" for a girl or woman no matter their age. Every Ethel I've ever had the chance of meeting, always looks like they swallowed a lemon so it has that image for me. There are many other choices in that name's time period that are much prettier and much less "clunky" sounding.

Mary on the other hand, is always a classic choice as it does tend to soften and compliment most any name.
