Am I the only one that wants to choke to parents of every

Mychell
Alexys
Madysyn
and
Vyvyen?

Or those who helped chose the names of

Mykal
Crysyfer
Allyn
and
Kadyn?

Not just Y though...most double vowels.

Jamee's and Leeanne's just get on my nerves

along with Cailie (as Kaleigh/Kayley) or Bailie (as Baile)

It annoys me when people think horrible butchering of the spelling of an otherwise perfectly fine name makes their child unique.

Sorry if I offended anyone, it wasnt my intention.

But is anyone else on board? Does anyone have any bad name examples or guilty pleasures when it comes to spelling?

OMGEEE... I HATE IT TOO!

Like seriously, just name your kid Bailey, not Bailey or any butchered name.

I've seen Hailee before though, the pronounciation is fine just the spelling of it.

Its okay if you like different names, just don't just REALLY show it to the world, because thats your name for the rest of your time on Earth!

I actually like Aaliyah -That was the first spelling i knew! But Alia is cute too.

I like:

-Bailey
-Riley > Though i do like Rylee
-Hailey >NOT Haylee..
-Gracyn
-Rebekah

..And some more that i just can't think of.. :]

Prefer Kai to Ky .. :)

Don't like:

[Ones ive seen]
-Kamryn >Though this is an 'okay' one..
-Elyzabeth
-Justyne
-Georgya
-Lorelay
-Vyctorya
-Syndee >Don't know why..
-Yazmyn > What?! .. :/
-Madysin
-Vyvienn
-Olyvya >..?
-Mytchell
-Bethanee
-Alaxx > What IS that? :S
-Morghanne
-Jaykob/Jaycobb
-Melyssa
-Abyghaiyl
-Daynuh >Instead of Dana.. so bascally, spelling it phonetically.. (Day-na)
-Nataliy
-Tayiler >Hmm.
-Gabryella
-Jaymz >Why ruin a perfectly good name?!
-Meeshell >Just write it 'Michelle'!!
-Looweeze >I mean, REALLY? :P
-Nathanyelle
-Lucee
-Cophii >Sophie..

Most of these aren't 'Y' names, but i still don't like 'em. :)

Ah! Thank you for posting this!

Most of the names I can't stand have already been posted and I agree with ALL of them.

I seen some on the polls yesterday:

Erynn
Cortnee

And others I hate:

Elyza
Elyzibeth
Grayce
Gavynn
Quincee
Alyvya (I love Alivia, I mean why change so many letters from Olivia?)
Natallya (Really?)
Jay-Cub (I'm not even kidding you, a little boy who went to preschool with my cousin Carter had this name)
Carsyn
Ellyit
Meeshuh

My ex-boyfriend's name was Deejay, and the rest of his brothers and sisters all had names like Walter, and Madi, and Bailey.

I have a strange one:

I know a girl named Meghan. I LOVE her name but there are so many variations:

I like:
Meghan
Meagan
Maghan
Meghen
Meghanne/Meghann

I hate:
MEGAN
Meaghan
Megyn
Megin
Etc

:)

That's weird because MEGAN is actually the original spelling if I'm not mistaken. And Meghanne is actually pronounced Meg - Anne.

As far as everything else goes, I hate some of the Y variations too. But Aaliyah is actually the first spelling of this name when it first became popular (that is, when the singer came out). But the rest of them are really ridiculous. It's just parents trying to come up with "original" names, when really, the names are exactly the same.

I agree, I think it looks uneducated and the kid will probably spend their whole life correcting people on the spelling of their name.

Some are just ridiculous, Cophii I couldn't even read!

Others I quite like, Camryn for example I love.
I have a friend named Madelyn (not sure if thats very out there but she's the only Madelyn I've ever met) I think it's very pretty.
I think the I-->Y change is getting a little tiresome.

I've always prefered Megan to other spellings, it's the original in my opinion.

It's a shame sometimes, people choose these names so that their children are 'different' and stand out from the crowd, and then these kids go to school and all they want to do is fit in. I don't think everyone should name their kids Jane and John but I think people should consider their child's feelings in this. Changing a letter isn't originality in my opinion, it just looks messy and is extra work for the child.

Didn't mean to offend anyone.

Rosie.

Yeah, Megan is original but Meghan is the Irish spelling.

Meghanne is Meg Anne but it's close

Even Jayson's name kindof annoys me.

I pick on him for it all the time.

One of my friends Melissa(whom often spells her name Melysa because she thinks it's cool) said "Ive never met a black Jason before" and I said "It's spelled with a "y" and she said "Oh" haha.

Someone on youtube had a baby nameing contest and came up with "Kingsley Mychell"

I posted a comment asking why in the hell they had to spell it with a "y" and they said it was because it was after someone they cared about dearly.

To me that didn't matter though. Michell is close enough, without plagueing your child.

Me too.

It drives me nuts.

I was kindof weirded out by a friend of mine insisting her daughter Alexis use "Lexy" has a nickname instead of "Lexi"

I kept insisting she was just spelling it wrong. Though I guess a lot of people spell it that way

I just feel that most nn for full names hould be spelled with an IE/I if its a girl

Jamey/Jamy (as a girls spelling it should be Jamie)
Nicky (Again..Nicki/Nickie...something)

But names that work with y

Vicky
Paigey
Peggy
Lilly

I guess it depends on the name

But full names should never look like "Sofya" and "Vyktoryuh" or "Nykol"(Sophia, Victoria and Nicole)

or Dayvyd, Mykal and Byngemyn (David, Michael and Benjamin)
