Elaina Katherine vs. Lainey Katherine
We have decided (I think) to name our daughter Elaina -- nn Lainey. We are wondering if it would be appropriate to just name her Lainey since that is what we will call her or if that would be a childish name as she gets older. thanks!

I like Lainey. It’s cuter and you are going to call her that anyway. When she is older, she can go by Laine or use her middle name.

I think Elaina or Elaine would be more formal and professional than Lainey. Lainey as an adult would be a little childish.
I think Elaina is better because she’ll have a name to use when she’s older instead of having to go with a middle name instead.

I am a firm believer in formal names. Elaina Katherine is beautiful and would look best on a business card or application when applying for a job. I think Lainey is adorable for a child or teen but after that she can decide if she wants to be called Lainey, Laine, or Elaina.

I really like the name Lainey, but not a fan of Elaina. I would name her Laine and call her Lainey.
