Billy vs. Jimmy

If someone named their kids James and Jimmy how would you respond to them? Do you think that they would be picked on at school? The same questions go for Billy and William. (I know Liam is a commen name by itself)

No! Jimmy and Billy are common nns for James & William. Even though the parents might not use these nns, family and friends might.

My younger cousin (17) is named William (nn Bill) and he isn’t teased. The name actually suits him quite well. I don’t care for Jimmy or the BillY, but there’s nothing wrong with the nicknames.

Sorry, I meant to say don’t do it if you have a son named James and then name another son Jimmy or you have William and then want to name your next son Billy.

Oh, well that IS a little strange. Billy and Jimmy shouldn’t be standalone names anyway.
