Grier vs. for a girl?

Does anyone like Grier or Greer for the first or middle name for a girl? Maybe paired with something very feminine and used as a double name? Tossing around some ideas for the little one due this summer. Thanks!!

BIG no on this one, sorry! I’ve always wondered why Brooke Shields used the name, and felt bad for her daughter. Even a double name doesn’t make it pretty IMO. GL!!

No its sounds like the word career said really fast , it doesn’t look feminine at all and would be a pretty poor choice for a first name.

Elizabeth Grier
Allison Grier
Grier Noelle?

I know a girl named Grier she really wants to change her name because everyone keeps calling her Greasy Grier just cause grier sounds like greasy to them. I think its ugly both as a first name and a middle name.

Grier is interesting, but kinda cute-if I was going to use it, I would use it for a middle name. How about Marissa Greer or Rilee Grier? Just a thought-

From Poll Poster...I think a middle name is the best choice. Elizabeth Grier sounds pretty!
If used a first name...the "career" person may have a good point. I just thought it might be cute and different for a double. Had no idea Brooke Shields’ daughter is named Grier? I saw it on another post on this site.

No, i really hate it. That doesn’t mean you can’t use it still.

That is quite horrible now why would anyone want to name a girl something so strange? to me it sounds awful, sorry if I was too harsh.

I don’t like it as a first. It would be alright as a middle name.

Oh, I really think most of those compliments are probably like this...

Stranger = "What’s your name sweetie?"
Little girl = "Greer"
Stranger = " Oh, hmmm how interesting" but really thinking in their head that’s too bad hopfully I am not making a sour lemony face because I don’t want to hurt the poor kids feelings or her silly mom’s feelings for giving her kid a bummer of a name.

Yeah.

no, not really...i’ve been there and it gets a great response. people genuinely like it. so in this case (unless of course you’ve experience it first hand...and by the sounds of your comedic script you have not) i believe you’re wrong. to poll poster...why don’t you post some combos that you are think of using w/ grier and get opinions. that would probably be helpful.

Actually I have seen it, not with that particular name but with other choices that are either very harsh/manly or totally ridiculous names like Tazmyn.

It sounds nice for a middle...not a first. It’s Scottish for watchful or vigilant which is kind of neat.
I would go middle only though.

Grier Elizabeth
Grier Katharine.

A name as course and as harsh as Grier needs a very delicate, classic feminine middle name in case she’d like to change it on day.

Thanks for the input everyone! I like it but, definitely prefer it for a middle name (maybe double) paired with a girly name. I know it sounds like a surname, but I really like surnames on children. Have a great day!
