I love Aidan but I fear its too trendy now. I went with Egan instead...

Aidan ("little fire")
Brogan ("badger")
Declan ("full of goodness")
Tiernan ("little lord")

I chose some English 3-syllable middle names:

Anderson
William

Or 3-syllable Irish middle names:

Carrigan ("spear")
McKinley ("fair haired foreigner")
Monahan ("descendant of the little monk")

My favorites are:

Declan McKinley O’Neill
Aiden William O’Neill

Forget Padraig -- only Padraig Harrington can pull that one off, and Egan is okay, but Declan and Aiden are better!

I like Declan a lot. I thought of it earlier, but my fiancee says its too much of a mouthful...

What about Deacon instead of Declan?

Declan is adorable, not at all a mouthful! How is Declan O’Neill a mouthful?

And I thought you wanted Irish? Deacon isn’t Irish, and its becoming very popular!

I (the poster) did not suggest Deacon! While I think its a cute name, I just think its a little too... English for one and pretentious in a religious sense.

PAW-DRIG is prnunciation.

It does sound good with O’Neill.

Classic Irish name. Go for it.

But the problem is that most people living in America won’t know that is how it is pronounced, so they will say "PAD-rag" instead....I’m assuming this couple is not living in Ireland.

I would go for a traditional Irish name that is easy to pronounce: Declan or Aiden (though I agree with mom-to-be that Aiden is becoming very popular, so Declan is a better and classic choice!)... :)
