Evelyn Frances vs. Avelyn Frances vs. Aveline Frances

I have the middle name picked for a little girl of Frances (my grandmothers middle name) and I lLOVE the first name of Ava. My husband’s grandmothers name was Evelyn- how can I use Evelyn as the first name but still have it pronounced? Would it be Ave sound like Ava? Would that spelling be Avelyn?

I think that Evelyn Frances is the prettiest. It’s gorgeous, elegant, classy . . . you name it. It’s a name that grows with her.

If you want to call her Ava, then you can either: a) Call her Avelyn and nn her Ava (not Aveline, people will say that ava-line) or b) name her Evelyn, which I think is the prettiest and classiest one here, and just nickname her Ava.

Good luck!

Evelyn Frances is beautiful.

I’m not sure how to marry the "Ava" pronunciation with "Evelyn" unless you’re really willing to butcher it.

I love Evelyn, but since you like Ava you could spell it Avalyn or Avelyn.

If I saw Ave, I would say "AH-vay," like Ave Maria... Latin for "Hail Mary."

Avalyn would be better than Avelyn.
