My mother’s name is Barbra, so I thought we could honor her by using Barbra in our first daughter’s name! Our last name is Dahl pronounced Doll. My husband wants to call her Barbie, which is a horrible idea to me! WDYT?

I think if you want to honor your mom you could use Barbie as a middle name. She would still have the cute "barbie dahl" association, but with a different first name. I voted for Avery.

What about Alexis Barbra? And you’re husband could still call her Barbie.
I’m sorry, but Barbie Dahl is really corny and a great invitation for teasing.

If you really want to use Barbra you should use it as a middle name like for Lauren Barbra or Allison Barbra. Even though Avery is still my fav.

I would use Barbra as a mn or a variant of Barbra like:

I would use Barbra as her middle name so she wouldn’t get the Barbie doll association. What about Larissa Barbra or Avery Barbra?
