Emmaline/Emmeline vs. Emmaleine/Emmeleine vs. Emmalyn/Emmelyn

Hey guys, I love the name Emmeline, but want to know which pronuciation you like best, and which spelline. Its: Emmaline; Emma-Line, Emmaleine- Emma-Leen, or Emmalyn- Emma-Lyn. Also do you like Emma, or Emme for the first part of the name. Please tell me what you think of the name as well. Thanks!!

I adore the name Emmeline. It’s one of my favorites. However, I first thought it was pronounced Emma-line and not Emme/Emma-leen so that pronunciation has stuck and it’s my favorite. I’m a stickler for correct pronunciations and spellings so I could never use it. Plus, I’d think I’d seem like a fool for not pronouncing it right.

You could always eliminate this problem by going with the equally as beautiful name, Emelina. (Em-eh/ah-lee-na).

I always thought it was pronounced Amma-line as well. Love that. Classy name.

Emmeline Pronunciation: EH-mə-liyn (key) iy i as in bite or y as in my.

I love this pronunciation but I was told it was pronounced Emma leen. I looked it up and this was what I found. I found it on 3 different websites. I love the nn Emme!

Emmalyn seems easiest to say, and I don’t think anyone would have trouble saying it.

I only know one little girl named Emmeline, and her name is pronounced Emma-lynn. I love that pronounciation!

Emmeline is my favorite spelling, followed by Emaline and then Emmaline.
My husband has a very old family member with the name and it is pronounced emma-line.
The other time I have heard this name is in the sequel of Anne of Green Gables, and it is pronounced again as emma-line.

I like Emmelyn best. I agree with most of the above posters that I would pronounce Emmaline as Ema-line. With Emmelyn, the nickname could be Emmy (or spelled Emme) which I love.
