WDYT of vs. Angus vs. nn Gus?
My hubby really wants to call our son Gus but I think he should have a more formal name so we have compromised and are probably going to call him Angus with the nickname Gus. What do you guys think? Do you like Angus? Thanks, Nate and Tori.

It’s very harsh sounding. Also reminds me of meat.

Maybe August would be better. Angus reminds me of meet, too or [removed] . You could also use it as a mn and call him gus as a nn...gl

Angus is nice. I think it was the name of the hero in "The Water Horse". I like August or Augustus better, but Angus is good too.

Angus is the name of a type of beef. I’d stick with August, Augustus, or Augustin. Keep in mind, that usually the chances that he’d actually go by those names are slim if you’re going to call him Gus. "Nicknames" stick more than the original formal name.

I know a little boy who’s name is John August, but he goes by Gus. I really like that because it’s a very formal name, but the nn is so cute! What do you think of that?
