I love it- The nicknames Tilly and Millie are both really cute, if you didn’t want her to go by Mattie.
I love it! Not dated at all IMO and will age well for sure :)

Mattie is fine, but I do not like tilly at all...very old ladyish...or something an old lady names her car:). Also, and this is just my opinion, I think Matilda rates right up there with Hazel as 2 of the most unflattering names. That being said, you can still honor grandma by either naming her Mattie/Maddie or giving her a nother name that can have the nn Mattie....Madelyn/Madison, Madden....sorry to sound so harsh...gl

Love Matilda! It’s sooo cute and classy! (PP, I also love Hazel!) Old-fashioned names are in!

Love Matilda! The fact that it was your grandma’s name is testament that it "ages" well (as she did)! I love it when people say "it’s an old lady name" because we should all HOPE that statement comes true!! :)

My grandmother was Matilda also. She went by Tilly (which I think is adorable). There are so many Madelyns and Madisons that I think Mattie would become grouped with the rest of the Maddies. I like the suggestion of Millie also.
