yes vs. no

This is my last poll. It must be pregnancy hormones, but I worry about stupid things like--Does it matter that we sometimes call Emma--Emmy, but we DON’T want to call Gabrielle anything but Gabrielle? Comment if you want--I just wonder if it’s maybe unfair, but we don’t like any nn for Gabrielle.

Gabby is a cute nn. It is not unfair though. GL Love the names

Lots of times kids wind up getting nn’s that don’t have anything to do with their real names. You may find a nn that grows on you.

It’s not unfair, and I agree with previous poster.
I think Bri or Elle are cute alternatives to Gabby

I think Gabrielle is beautiful without the nickname. These -abby, etc. nicknames are trendy, anyhow.

I have four children and only two have a nickname that we SOMETIMES use.

Stella is sometimes Stells or Stella Bella
Milo is sometimes Miles, for some reason.
Nikolai stays but sometimes is shortened to Nik or O-lee when he’s in trouble/when he was younger.
Lena is Lena (Lay/Leh-na) always.

You may change your mind. I don’t really consider a name a nickname if it’s only used occasionally and not for a real reason (like my Stella Bella/Stells). It’s just quicker or cuter, sometimes.

I don’t think it’s unfair at all. I hate the nn Gabby, but I do think Bri/Bree and Elle/Ellie are super cute nn’s for Gabrielle!

i don’t think it really matters. My cousins are James and Charli(girl), when James was young we called him Jim Jam, but now he’s just James, Charli get’s called Cho. they’re brother and sister and i don’t think anyone’s noticed that one has a nn and one doesn’t.

I agree that you don’t have to worry about "fairness" in this case. Also, who knows where a nn might come from. You might end up calling her Gi-Gi or princess or angel or button...who knows. You don’t necessarily need to plan for this. Just let it happen. GL.
