Help please vs. !
We have 2 adoped children (borther and sister) named Ellie Mae -7 and Jay James-5. The problem is i am expecting a girl and would like to name her May/Mae after my grandmother who has recently passed away but do you think its wrong as i have a daughter with the middle name Mae? Please note these were the names given to them by there parents. We didnt change there names as they were old enough to understand there names when we adopted them. What do you think?~Hanah

i think it’s a bit too close, but i do know step sisters where one has the name as a middle name the other has it as a first, they’re named after their grandmother. how about you ask Ellie what she thinks about that, she might think it’s cool or she might not like it, if she’s okay with it then use it, if not then you still have the name for one of your daughters.

I agree with the pp in that you should ask Ellie Mae what she thinks, however I don’t think it’s a bad idea. My partner already had a daughter named Ella Ruby and when we had a daughter together we named her Ruby Jayne after my grandmother. Both girls love having that special connection. GL!

I think to have the same middle and last name would be hard on the girls but you could use the first name Mae/May for your newborn and call her by her middle name. That way she is still a remembrance of the one you lost but it wouldn’t be as confusing as 2 girls with the same name.

I think Maya (pro. Mye-uh) is a great suggestion! Or Maeva?

Can you use Mae as a mn? I know you have a adopted dd with that mn.I have a friend both of her dd have the same mn of Rose. They do not seem to mind.It is my friend’s fav flower.
Or Can you spell May as a fn then it is slightly different.

Doesn’t anyone seem to notice that Jay and Mae ryhyme? Aside from it being Ellie’s middle name, it doesn’t go with Jay either.
