Should I do vs. D names or vs. something else

We are expecting a boy in Oct and I want to honor my late father Darrell Alan but I don’t like Darrell.In fact my father did not like his name.My brother is named Allan.I am not sure what to do.If I go with a D name I can’t use David,Daniel,Derreck,Davis,or Darrin.Should I use Alan as a mn? Any help or ideas will be helpful.Thank you...Hannah

What I would suggest is this...Use Alan as a mn then have a name that you and your dh love as I first.

My mother hates her name too,it is Maureen.She can’t stand it...lol

use Alan as the mn, it then honours your father and brother. use a D name for the fn if you find one that you like, otherwise you another name that you like, to you like Daryl? or what about
