Clara vs. Cara

Hi, my name is Aly and my husband is Ethan. We are expecting our first children, twin girls! We are seriously considering Clara/Cara as our oldest daughter’s name. Which on do you prefer? I love them both :] I think Clara nickname Cara is the cuter and more classy way to go.

Both names are nice! Cara is becoming more popular but is soo sweet. I think I prefer it as long as your pronouncing it CARE-ah, I dont care for CAR-ah
Clara is also gorgeous and underused.

We would pronounce Cara CARE-ah, we also don’t care for it pronounced CAR-ah. We haven’t any middle names we like yet besides Grace. For Clara/Cara’s sisters names we like:

I would NEVER have thought of Hannah and Leah as being associated with a reality show. Plus that show will fade into obscurity, and your children’s names will last a lifetime.
So, I really like Clara and Hannah, or Clara and Leah - either one fits really well with Clara.

I don’t like Bella. It sounds more like a nn than Ella! Go with just Ella its simple and elegant.
I really prefer Clara to Cara because it so much less popular.

I strongly advice against Bella. It seems tacky and is meant to be a nn for Isabella. Its also getting overused because of the twilight series. Ella is MUCH better

Hannah, Ethan and I don’t like the name Isabella, we just like Bella. We are going to name them Clara and Bella. Clara’s nick name will be Cara and Bella’s nick name will be Ella. We need middle names.

Clara & Amelia nickname Lia are pretty...you like Amelia and Lia isn’t too J & K, plus, it’s a nickname :]

Clara is a darling classic.

Your other girl deserves something equally lovely.

If you really like the idea of calling her Ella or Ellie, I’d urge you to use Eleanor as her full name.

Clara and Eleanor sound just right together.
Bella is a silly, soap opera name-nothing like the elegant sophistication of Clara.

I think Anna or Amelia are both nice choices.
