What do you vs. think of vs. the name Elanor nn Ella?

Okay, so I’ve fallen in love with the name Elanor, but some people have told me that the spelling is odd. What do you think? The name itself is a both a different spelling of Eleanor, and a Lord of the Rings reference, but please, please don’t judge me for that. My husband and I both love that series and have agreed that Elanor would be a lovely name, but others have told me I’m crazy. Any thoughts? Oh, we’re considering Grace for a middle name, and Ella as a nickname for sure. Thanks! ~May

I think the spelling is a little odd, however if you like it you should go for it. It’s not so odd that people won’t know how to pronounce it, and names are changing all the time. So go for it!

I prefer Eleanor. Or if you want to be different how about Ellanor? It just looks incomplete and odd to me the way you have it spelled. Just my two cents :) Good luck!

If you are going to use it, I would spell it one of two ways:
Eleanor
Elinor

Is it pronounced like Eleanor? Because if so I like that spelling better, if not, I’m not sure how to pronounce it...

Definitely do not spell it Elinor, that looks dumb imo, If you don’t want to use Eleanor, then keep it as is!

Elanor is an odd spelling in my opinion. Forgive me for saying this, but I side with the people who think the spelling is odd. Everyone will mispell it as Eleanor, and you will have a terrible time with that. Eleanor May was on my list. Ellie May would be an adorable nickname imo! Do you like Jocelyn Avery, Natalie Jane, Melissa Gabrielle, Monica Grace, Cynthia May, or Eleanor May for your baby girl?

Eleanor May or Eleanor Grace, nicknames Ellie and Ella, would be very nice in my opinion. What do YOU think of them??

Sorry. I hope that I did not hurt your feelings. I like the name Eleanor Grace, nickname Ella, but spelled this way.
God bless, ~Rachel

I agree with those who prefer the more traditional spelling. Going through life with people always spelling my name wrong has its share of headaches!

That said, however, if you like it a bit different - she’s your baby! However you spell it, the middle name and nicknames are both lovely.

Congratulations and best of luck!

Thank you all for your suggestions! We’ve decided to go with Eleanor Grace, nickname Ella. We still do like Elanor, but it makes more sense to go with Eleanor because of spelling problems. Oh, and I do like Eleanor May, but May is my name, and Grace has a special meaning to us. Thanks so much! ~May
