Help vs. Needed

Hi my boyfriend and I are expecting our first child in November, and it’s a girl! We need help finding a name for her. I like unique names (like Lailynn) and he likes popular names (like Sophia). We need some suggestions of first and middle names that fit with our naming choices. Thank you! -Hailey and James-

Lol, thank you, that is one that is on our list. James isn’t crazy about it at all, but I love the name Lailynn :) We’d like more ideas though.

Have you thought about doing a name thats pretty common but using a unique spelling? i saw before a taylor spelled taighler.
posted by amanda :: Jul 22, 2009 11:12 AM | report
To me "Taighler" is just a weird spelling of a common name. I like the more uncommon names.

well to be honest those are actually all very common names.
I really like Kynlie, Lailynn and Avalie.
I would get reid of the rest.

Yea it would AY-OH-ME like amy with an oh.

Yes, I know they’re common, but they’re not overused. They were the only ones that I could get James to agree too. Haha.

i’m glad to hear he liked it. :)
Did he like Myla?
I think Aome Sky/Raie/Paige would prolly sound beter.

Aoife (EE-fa)

He does like Myla, that also went on our list, hehehe. He’s getting more used to the fact that I don’t want her to be one of 15 Sophia’s or Madelyn’s or Ava’s in her grade.

I like Aome Skye, that is pretty!!

I’m not a fan of Aoife, sorry!

I know exactly what you mean. I hated having 5 Amandas in my class. Aome Myla would also be nice. but i love Aome Skye

I LOVE Aine, but prefer the spelling Anya. I also really like Aislinn, but prefer the "English" spelling Ashlyn. None of the rest are really my style. I’m not a huge fan of Irish names (:

I don’t know how to explain what my style is. I posted a list of names we like up above. All of the first names are MY style, where the middle names are James’ style.

Zofia

Hailey is my name, so therefore we can’t use Haylee. I like Kenia a lot. James said he likes Savannah.

I LOVE Keely, but am not fond of that spelling, it looks like it’s missing something. I do like Keylie however. :)

I like the spelling Tzipporah, but prefer Zipporah (:

I like Zoelle! Zara is beautiful! I’m not a fan of month names, really. Sorry.

James likes popular, feminine names, yes. Sophia is his favorite and he keeps trying to persuade me to use it.

One more try.....
Evelise Skye/Faith
Aome Evelise ???
But I really think that the names:
Avalie Faith/Skye
Jocelyn Faith
Eliana Skye
and
Briony Skye
are quite lovely and uncommon
posted by jessicaj :: Jul 22, 2009 12:04 PM | report
i would use it as a first name. the trend now is for original names to try to make the children stand out and so babies are receiving more and more uncommon names and still finding other kids around with the same name.
posted by guest :: Jul 22, 2009 12:05 PM | report
Thank you, Jessica. For some reason the name Zipporah just keeps popping into my head for her.

I do like Evelise, that is very pretty. If we use Elliana the middle name will be Zipporah, it’s a combo I’ve loved for awhile :)

Zipporah is a biblical name, which is why I like it. It’s the name of Moses’ first wife. I think it’s wonderful that it’s a biblical name, and still a bit unique.

Its funny that you say that because i was saying a few more times to see if it would grow on me too and it has....hahaha....
Eliana Zipporah....btw the next little girl I have will probably be an Eliana because it means "The Lord has responded" and my huspand and I have been waiting for years to get pregnant so when we finally get pregnant...if its a girl then this will most likely be the name we give her

Aww, I didn’t know Elliana meant that! What a beautiful meaning!!

I’m still leaning more towards Zipporah. James likes Zipporah Sofie.

posted by guest :: Jul 22, 2009 12:17 PM | report
We have settled on Zipporah as her first name (Yay! A name I have loved since 7th grade!) Now we’re working on a middle name. I like Zipporah Madalie (I saw Madalie on here, it’s beautiful) he likes Zipporah Sofie, but we might find one we like more than either of those. I’ll post a new poll when we get some more MNs together.

Zipporah is pretty, but she might be called Zip or Zippy--yuck! :-P Keelie Zipporah is soooooo much better than Zipporah Madalie....

We won’t let her be called Zip or Zippy. We, as parents, will let everyone know her name is to be Zipporah, and nothing else. James has never once been called Jim or Jimmy because everyone knows he goes by his full name.
