You vs. Won’t Believe vs. This...

My husband and I just adopted a son, and we agreed to let his birth parents name him. That turned out to be a mistake, because I kid you not, they named him UrMajisty. My husband and I looked at each other like "Are you serious?!" when we found out, but kept our mouths shut. We need a nickname for him. We’re also trying to see if we can’t change his name to something more...normal. But for now, any normal nicknames for UrMajisty? I never thought I’d be asking for this... Thanks. -Josie and Hal

-M.J.
-Sam (Majisty has the letters S, A, and M backwards)
-Jess (you kind of get the Jess sound with -jis-)
-A.J. (Maj)
-Jam (Maj backwards)
-Jim (Majisty has the letters J, I, and M in it)
-Euro (Ur+o)
-Tym/Tim (the letters T, Y/I, and M are in Majisty)
-Misty (kind of feminine, but it’s Majisty without the -aj-)

Like any?

Definately change the poor boys name!

Samual Majid (mah-jeeh-d)

Majid is the closest I could find to majisty - it would be a funny story to tell him when he gets older. Plus he’d probably find it cool to have a unique middle name which is actually a name and not UrMajisty!

Did they give him a decent middle name? Maybe you would use that. I like the suggestion of Jim or Sam above.

I’d change it. Sure, they’re his birth parents but he’s YOUR child now. You can’t let him grow up with that as his name, even if you give him a nickname.

Perhaps:
Yuri
Maj

That is horrible!! I can’t believe that either! I would definitely change his name. He will certainly thank you later. I would just come up with a name you and your husband like and begin calling him that now and get his name changed ASAP.

Change his name. It will cost probably 15 buck and you will have to fill out a form and show up in court for a 2 minute procedure.

Never heard of the birth mother naming the child...however, I see no reason for you to look for nn, you are the parents now, you need to change the name. I am very surprised you didn’t do this right away before the birth certificate was filed. I’m not sure if you are having an open adoption or not, but I think after a "safe" amount of time has passed, you need to change his name.

Why not just focus on his new name...what ever you decide to call him and start callling him that...forget the nns for a name you don’t like.

you can’t let the kid go to school and have his name called out "Urmajesty" every day.

choose a normal name and start calling him that and change the name legally asap.
