I have always loved Vanessa. I think it would be adorable for a little girl and ages well. I knew a Vanessa who went by Nessa or Ness as a kid, which I think is a younger sounding nickname.

Danielle-Nice uncommon first name.
Mary-Like a lot:) uncommon by itself.
Sydney-to trendy and overused. Doesn’t really age well.
Natalie-Cute and I love nn Nattie
Andrea-I like a lot:) Andie is cute:)
Gabrielle-Not a fan of Gabby to common.
Julia-Nice pretty.
Vanessa-don’t care for but uncommon:)
Jacqueline-Love Jacqueline and Jaci/Jackie! So unique and different better than the trendy names of today.
Shannon-This name is beautiful and unique:) I love it:) Better than the nasty trends of today.

I would eliminate Natalie, it has become way too popular recently - top 20 last year, and look for it to move into the top 10 for 2009. I love Andrea and Danielle.
