He’s vs. here! vs. !!

Hi everyone! I thought I would just let you guys know that we had our little boy! Owen Alexander Williams was born on August 1st at 2:19 am. He weighed in at 6lbs 10 oz (he was premature) and meausred 19inches. Everything is fine, no medical complications, and he is home with us now! Mom and Dad are just getting used to the sleepless nights, and numerous feedings! Thank you to everyone who helped name Owen. If anyone has any helpful advice on having a new baby (as we are first time parents), that would be awesome! Thank you so very much! ~ Dave, Kristin and Owen Williams ~

Congrats!!! I love his name. Sorry I can’t help you more, but I’ve never had children.

Thank you! No problem at all! I just thought since I didn’t need help with a name, others could help me with some advice! Thanks!

I’m 14 (not pregnant! Just like names and helping people) and people always say enjoy every moment cuz it goes by so fast! Also my advice: dont try to be the cool parent! Discipline (but not abuse) is a GOOD thing! Congrats and best of luck!

Thank you very much! I know already he’s starting to smile at us, and I wish I could cherish every moment! But I am very excited for when he gets older, and starts talking and walking, and going out with daddy. It’s a little too early for discipline, but when it’s time, we definately intend on being hard on him, but of course not too hard! Thanks again!

Thank you! It took a long time to find a perfect name, but we finally did it! No, no, the 14 year old had good advice! I don’t think she was referering to when he is a little baby, but rather when he gets a little older. Thanks everyone!

Oh sorry! I’m not that great with emoticons! But yes, I agree, kids are getting smarter these days! I’m amazed by my neices and nephews! Sorry I haven’t been replying...new baby’s can do that to a person! My dear husband is up changing him right now though, so I promise to reply!

Get a good book on establishing sleep schedules - it will really pay off in the long run! After many months of responding to my daughter’s every beck and call, I finally resorted to letting her cry it out when she was around 5 months old. Within a few nights, she was going to sleep on her own without crying, and sleeping 5-8 hr stretches. My second baby is due in a month, and while I’m sure I’ll be pulling the every 2-3 hr. gig for a little while, I certainly won’t be waiting as long before training him to go to sleep on his own!

Yes! I mean, he is only about three weeks old, so it’s a little early, but I definately plan to let him cry it out, because it really does pay off! Hes a good baby, but sometimes, he cries for no reason, and I still craddle him, but I’m beginning to swaddle him and just hold him, because we would leave him swaddled, to make him feel safe and secure, and he seems to be doing fine! My schedule is basically feed him, change his diaper, run around like a crazy woman trying to get things done while he sleeps, feed him, change his diaper..you get the pattern! When we first brought him home, he was only sleeping about 1 1/2 hours! But not, we’re up to 2 to 3 hours depending on the day. Speaking of that, was your first a boy or a girl (if you don’t mind my asking) and how old? Thanks!

Best advice I ever got....turn on very little light at night when you have to get up and feed him. Just enough for you to see what you are doing and ideally not in the same room you are in. And do not talk to him at all. Change, feed, and return to bed. I know it sounds strange but they really learn that night time is for sleep and that daytime is for talking and playing. I’ve done this for 2 babies and they were sleeping in 6hour stretches in no time!

Thank you! We actually read this in a parenting book, and are looking forward to trying it! We were planning on just me getting up and taking care of him, because my husband has to work, but it usally wakes both of us up anyway! Thank you so very much for the advice aswell! By the way, was the 12th poster the 10th poster aswell? Because I can’t tell because it’s just labeled as guest! Thankyou!
